Paris is a smouldering gloom-fest of fun captured on this double album. The first six tracks are wonderfully brooding arrangements of well-known miserabilist masterpieces: One Hundred Years, In Your House and At Night to name but a few - all swirling guitar and sweeping, epic synth strings. (The latter element really brings something new to the sound of the originals).

Then, just as you are about to light those scented candles, drink that final glass of red and descend into new depths of the morose, "Uncle Bob" rearranges his lip-stick, straggly hair and becomes the loveable rag-doll of "Love Cats" fame.

Well actually that particular track isn't included, but you do get "Dressing Up" and "Close to Me" for your money, all done with real playful aplomb.
