C.W. Stoneking is a fitting moniker for an act who presents an amalgamation of both deep delta blues and vaudevillian gumbo styles – think Jelly Roll Morton of all people trying to cover Son House on guitar, or actually rather Charley Patton getting hip to New Orleans dance music, brandishing a shiny dobro he’s never handled before.

The fact that this mix of early twentieth century blues brew hails from Australia and is completely convincing just points to the blues as a global phenomenon a hundred years after its first recordings, the DNA of basically all Western popular music to follow.
