Mamaleek is a weird band. They don’t fit into a specific genre, they more likely managed to be their own genre and this album proves it once again. A lot of bands try to fuse different genres together, but no other band does it quite as well as Mamaleek.

Abandoning their Metal roots even further, Mamaleek dives deeper into Jazz, Blues, Noise Rock and don’t stop to experiment with different types of instruments like flutes, a slide whistle, brasses or harmonicas. While you discover more layers and details with every new listen, they manage to create a beautifully structured chaos. You never know what's coming next.

This album deals thematically with different types of losses. The single “Ancient Souls, No Longer Sorrowful“ in particular.

Vida Blue feels like looking at old pictures of a loved one that passed away. It makes you sad, but you are grateful and happy for all the memories.
