NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS - Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! 2LP
$69.95

Well – loud, funny, violent, melodic, catchy, sullen, sneaky – tight rockers and winding atmospheric pieces: Lazarus sure has Cave and the boys firing from all holes again. Even if you don’t put it in the context of Cave’s stunningly consistent and lengthy career, it’s a bafflingly good album, certainly one of their best. The songs – which vary from electronified bass-heavy mood pieces ("Land of the Lotus Eaters") over sweeping post-punk ballads ("Moonland", "Midnight Man") to in-your-face chord bashing rockers ("Albert Goes West", "We Call Upon the Author", "Dig, Lazarus") in Grinderman style – are either quiet and sneaky or full of over-the-top rock swagger, but they’re in both cases forceful, decisive and engaging.
