It's their jazziest album - vaguely recalling those Blue Note LPs from the 60's (the opening track "Fuses" almost sounds like a frantic, crack-induced re-pacing of Eric Dolphy's "Hat and Beard"). But as Stereolab do, they combine numerous additional elements to create something else entirely. Enter psychedelic Moog-pop, minimalism, Burt Bacharach schmaltz, krautrock, electro-jazz-funk, The Swingle Singers abstractions and the avant-garde sounds of early electronic pioneers.
