Berlin is Lou Reed's third solo album after he left the Velvet Underground. It was right after the very successful Transformer which was a cool glam rock album. Fans and critics expected this style again but instead Lou served up a depressing rock opera. Reed teamed up with producer Bob Ezrin who produced many rock operas like Pink Floyd's the Wall and Alice Cooper's Billion Dollar Babies. The story is extremely depressing and sad but at times it can be very awe inspiring.
