MRS. PISS - Self-Surgery LP

Chelsea Wolfe's side project with drummer Jess Gowrie unleashes a rawer and more feral side to her music - there's a certain energy here that feels more primal than anything she has done, without the darkwave atmosphere, the songs are left with a muddy guitar sound, incessant drumming and a growling delivery, stomping arrangements played in a very straightforward way.

There's a bit of doom melancholy or stoner acid textures intertwined here, but it's mostly a noisy fest and a primal incarnation of her compositions - might not be her most memorable on a long run, but it's a very good display of escapism music, throwing everything out of the window through a ferocious and hard-hitting album.
