Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds’ sixteenth studio album, Skeleton Tree, released globally on 9th September 2016 began its journey in late 2014 at Retreat Studios, Brighton, with further sessions at La Frette Studios, France in autumn 2015.
After the death of Nick Cave's son, Nick Cave decided to write another album, which birthed Skeleton Tree. Already regularly writing about topics such as death and sorrow, Cave's writing is taken to a whole new level of depressing. Again his songs are written about death and sorrow, but this time you can hear the genuine pain in his voice during the recording.
To accompany the dark songwriting, Cave's band uses ambiance and experimental styles channeling Scott Walker' Tilt. The songwriting is remarkable, and Cave's performance is wonderful.
