DAN MELCHIOR - A Non Person / Hesitation Blues 7"
Dan Melchior is irritated and he has a new fuzz pedal. Sounds like a good excuse for a single!
Going by older songs like "JC Slug Pt. 2" and "Williamsburg, Brooklyn" in which Melchior cleanly razors the throat of the New York music and art scenes to where he once moved from his native England, one gets the sense that he doesn't always play well with others. He'd rather walk away from the schoolyard politics of most local music scenes than take part. He thinks the careerists should careen into a wall and thinks that the hangers-on should let go, preferably from somewhere high and far away.
This 7" kiss-off to Melchior's Durham, North Carolina years offers more venom. "A Non-Person" is deep-fried in Melchior misanthropy with a filthy blues riff and a pissy stomp.
