The first Protomartyr album that took some time to appreciate to be honest, but once again revealed an immense beauty within. While stylistically similar to their previous works, Relatives in Descent and Ultimate Success Today, which remain among their best, this record sees the band diluting their post-punk sound a bit. They explore passionate, melancholic, and almost poignant sonorities, often infused with melody without being cheesy, while maintaining a gritty, raw energy that invigorates every song.

Some tracks bring a nice amount of energy such as For Tomorrow, Elimination Dances, 3800 Tigers, Polacrilex Kid. Others enhance the atmospheric and dramatic feel, like Make Way, Fun In Hi Skool, Graft vs. Host, We Know the Rats, The Author, Rain Garden. Additionally, some songs stand out with their catchy hooks and rhythms, like Let's Tip the Creator, Fulfillment Center.

In any case, all of these songs feel special because all of them are memorable, either thanks to the performance of an unique and underrated singer such as Joe Casey and especially the effectiveness of the songwriting, which is now incorporating some synth elements as well...
