Infinite Fog
ABOVE THE RUINS - Songs of the Wolf LP
$45.95
Highly recommended.
Tony Wakeford project founded 1984 after his involvement in Death In June. Neither the releases nor Wakeford himself named any of his contributing musicians. The music's post punk sound bears resemblance both to early Death In June and his future project Sol Invictus and is as valid a document of 80’s Britain as anything by the Smiths, Joy Division or the Clash.
The album evokes the cold war, 4 minute warnings and Thatcherism - the 80’s were a decade primarily built on the clammy politics of fear and this album captures and bottles it with the songs following one another like cattle sleepwalking their way to the slaughterhouse.
