The definitive glam-punk album, the debut by the New York Dolls offers the energetic slap to the face of Personality Crisis, Trash, or Jet Boy, the camp as hell flounce-fest of Looking for a Kiss, and occasional more tender moments such as Lonely Planet Boy or Private World. Trashy and sleazy as hell, with the band looking like they'd just strolled out of a drag revue on the cover, this album somehow manages to take glam rock effeminacy and camp to an extreme whilst at the same time sounding far tougher than Bowie, Bolan, or even Kiss. And their material is catchy as hell, to the point where it's hard not to want to sing along a little.
