Tiny Ghost
ROBYN HITCHCOCK - Shufflemania! LP
Highly recommended.
A glorious late-career victory-lap in every way.
This is a singer-songwriter whose prime took place 40 years ago, still doing his thing but one could argue even more in his own way. He’s having much more fun than on philosophical outpourings such as I Often Dream of Trains (1984).
He hasn’t lost that fascination or even really all that seriousness, but packaging it in this eccentric Psych-Pop exterior does good for every big or small choice within his songwriting. A more experienced artist, who only lets his listener in on it when it seems appropriate to the overall-movement of his own art.
Sean Lennon and Johnny Marr even swing by at various points...
