ROSIE - Rosie's Coming To Town 7"

Rosie are one of those quasi-mystical glam rock bands from the 1970s for whom the phrase “quintessentially English” could have been coined, despite their European heritage. Their very name is Cockney Rhyming Slang for the great British cure-all “cuppa”, Rosie (Lee) tea, after the infamous stripper Gypsy Rose Lee.

Rosie actually formed in snowy Belgium, following a meeting in St. Nicklaas in 1973. Quickly deciding that Europe was no fun, Rosie relocated to the UK.

Rosie may have only recorded a handful of songs but their pre-punk snarl and louche rock‘n’roll swaggering's guarantee them a place in musical history alongside bands like the Hollywood Brats and Brian James’s pre-Damned ensemble, Bastard and The Snivelling Shits.
