SUPERGRASS - I Should Coco LP
Heavyweight vinyl. Remastered audio.
Highly recommended.
Bursting onto the scene with the 'summer-in-a-box' single "Alright" (not actually their first single but the one that got all the attention), Supergrass were an above-par Britpop band who, astonishingly, seemed to disappear after their first album - certainly from the charts; media wise they remained acclaimed. Those in the know who followed the band, particularly for their next two albums, were treated to some of the best British rock in years. They took their cues from the same bands as most of the Britpop brigade (Faces, Beatles, Kinks, Who, etc.) but made a sound of their own that appealed to the cool and the more mature audience. The albums following were not as well received and indeed were patchy affairs but that quick 1-2-3 albums are the peak of Britpop, particulary In It For the Money, which rivals the best work of Blur and Oasis.
