OK, yes there is definitely lots of Guided By Voices influence, but only in the fact that its lo-fi, and the overall approach to songwriting, that being; the songs are often short and poppy and will sometimes cut off abruptly.

Basically, the approach to making the album is very GBV-esque, but it kinda stops there. Kai's music is way more jangly and psychedelic and "Popafangout" and "Talking In Your Sleep" are easily two of the best pop songs you'll hear all year and most of the rest isn't too far behind.
