MINUTEMEN - Buzz Or Howl Under The Influence Of Heat 12"
Highly recommended.
This was the very center of the band's absolute peak, which began in earnest on What Makes a Man Start Fires? and reached its logical, ridiculous conclusion on Double Nickels.
"Self-Referenced" and its herky-jerky, anxious energy is a great opener, and "Cut"'s bassline is one of the most insistent Mike Watt ever laid down, complemented perfectly by D. Boon's... well, cutting guitar line. "Dream Told by Moto" is one of the group's very weirdest tracks, with D.'s guitar solo being the most psychedelic moment the band ever recorded, and that druggy atmosphere is weirdly complemented by the loose inconsequentiality of "Dreams Are Free, Motherfucker!" and "The Toe Jam."
