Chris Corsano and Bill Orcutt were cut from the same cloth. Corsano’s intense yet controlled drumming could also easily describe Orcutt’s guitar playing. Both musicians are experts at controlled chaos, like a Pollock-esque painting.

However, where Brace Up was seething with raw punk energy and explosion, the dynamic has managed to change. Orcutt still brings his high intensity blues style, yet more subdued, leaving the chords to say more and the dissonance to say less. While he says reels back the punky riffs, his folk and blues influence breathes more, while maintaining its edgy noise through Corsano’s unrelenting drumming.
