Written and recorded while heavily pregnant, motherhood and regeneration are at the heart of Birthmarks, the second solo album from former JJ72 bassist Hilary Woods. Like 2018’s Colt, it’s drastically different to her previous indie-rock output, produced by Norwegian experimental noise artist and filmmaker Lasse Marhaug and a fertile mix of acoustic instruments shot through by electronic elements.
