There's a great majority of Pixies fans who think that a pretty good comeback is better than none. Or maybe Head Carrier would truly be considered a mediocre album regardless of who released it. In either case, we'll stick our neck out and proclaim that this is actually fairly solid.
Obviously, it falls well short of a classic like Doolittle, but so do most albums ever made. But, compared to everything else released in 2016, Head Carrier stands up well.
