SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES - Extended Revelation CD
Highly recommended.
Original 1998 CD release of their sophomore album.
Sadly the entire band's catalogue seems to be out-of-print (Ian, Ebbot et al can we reissue them and arrange an Australia tour?) but we have a small batch of CDs on hand (plus 2006 Australian tour t-shirts!)
First off, the full title of this album makes an impression of what the thinking was when TSOOL made the album: Extended Revelation for the Psychic Weaklings of Western Civilization. Somehow the album sounds like an audio version of that title, don't ask me how, but it does.
Extended Revelation has more of a space-rock sound than the Soundtrack of Our Lives' other albums, including their strong debut, Welcome to the Infant Freebase, and their Grammy nominated third album, Behind the Music.
The first thing one notices when they pick up a copy of Extended Revelation is the trippy song names: Regenesis, Psychomatum x2000, and Intersteller Inferiority Complex, to name a few. Next, there is a heavier emphasis on the organ and a little less guitar than TSOOL's other two albums.
I reckon it's my favourite among an impressive catalogue of albums.
