FALL, THE - 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong: 39 Golden Greats 2LP

"50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong" is the first career-spanning greatest hits album released by the prolific post-punk band. For years, the biggest problem with the Fall was that there was never an exact entry point for people who want to get into the group. Most Fall fans like myself just somehow got into the band and we're unsure exactly how we did (most likely through one of the band's perfect string of albums from the 80's like "Hex Enduction Hour" or "This Nation's Saving Grace").

Not only is it a great overview of the band for beginners, its essential for fans as well, as it includes several of the band's non-album classic singles like "How I Wrote Elastic Man" and "Totally Wired". The two LP set includes many of the band's classic songs such as "The Classical" (which contains the memorable line "hey there, f*ckface!") and all three singles the band released that somehow stumbled into the UK Top 40 ("Victoria", "There's A Ghost In My House" and "Free Range").

The track listing isn't perfect however. There's no "2X4", "I Am Damo Suzuki", "Jawbone and the Air-Rifle" or "My New House" in sight and nothing comes from the band's Peel Sessions (there's actually a box set out now which includes all of their legendary sessions for their biggest fan, beloved BBC Radio DJ John Peel) but nonetheless, "50,000 Fall Fans..." is essential to your record collection if you're a fan of alternative/post-punk.
