Mia's soulful bluesy gritty voice is the draw, she has so much darned passion and emotion in her voice that her voice is hard to forget. I guess she sounds sort of like a grungy punky version of Janis Joplin.

Tragically, by the time this album was released, Mia was dead. She was sexually assaulted and murdered, and her killer remained loose for some eleven years before eventually being caught and put in jail.

Obviously the band's career was cut short. Their music is energetic, fuzzed up yet still shares a sort of loose Seattle feel to it all.

Their cover of Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" may not exceed the original, but it's unique and captivating none the less. "Social Love I and II" (one version is live and just Mia performing alone, and the other is full band and electrified) were some favorites even if they were short, simple and to the point, they just seem so honest.
