GODSTAR - Sleeper LP
First time on 12" vinyl (there was a double 10")
Godstar was Nic Dalton’s band formed in 1991 featuring Tom Morgan and Alison Galloway from Smudge and Robyn St Clare from the Hummingbirds.
Sleeper was recorded in 1992 in Sydney and Boston with help from Evan Dando, Bob Weston (Juliana Hatfield band/Shellac) and Rachael King (NZ’s Cakekitchen). Recorded by Sean Slade and Lou Giordano and mixed by Lou at Fort Apache.
Features “Lie Down Forever”, “The Brightest Star” and tasty The Lemonheads soundalikes!
Back-to-basics indie stuff in the style of early Sneeze and/or Smudge, but strong songwriting and infectious goodvibes overcome the slightly raw production. If you like Lemonheads stuff circa 1993 you ought to appreciate Godstar's light-yet-quick strumfest of punky gumshoe pop.
