Appaloosa is a tidy little EP that sets aside the excess of Orville Peck's duets effort from last year and focuses on the small stories of longing that are his wheelhouse.
Everything here is back to basics country longing for Peck. None of them quite reach the Roy Orbinson-esque howling highs of his early records except "Drift Away" (NOT a cover of the classic tune) and the closer, but they're all good songs.
