One Track Mind
SHOP TALK - s/t LP
Highly recommended.
The Brooklyn-based band's self-titled LP was recorded in Nashville with Stiff Little Fingers tech / Sleeveens bassist James Mechan behind the boards. The LP is the product of an immersive five-day session at Mechan's residential studio, and it harnesses the power of Shop Talk's live show with minimal overdubs.
It's a snapshot of this hardworking New York group on the heels of their summer tour, and half-delirious in the Tennessee heat. These songs have the emotional intensity of a fever dream—partly because Mechan and the band were running moderate-grade fevers during tracking. Listen well, but don't get too close.
