TONY MOLINA - On This Day LP

Highly recommended.

Tony Molina has been putting out records with marked consistency for well over twenty years. 

It remains a bit of a mystery. Why does he record such short songs? It does seem like it would be easier to dream up a hummable one minute ditty than to develop it fully. But then maybe Molina wants us to listen to his album in full and not just toss a track or two onto a playlist.

Whatever the reason, nothing alters the fact that there are scads of wonderful melodies to experience here. Most are songs steeped in the Power Pop of the '60s. And as cliche as it may be, much is owed to Pet Sounds and late-era Beatles. There's a lot of Raspberries going on here, too.

We really like the terrific Baroque Pop sounds all over this sweet little album.
