I can only describe U.S. Girls as Grouper meets Girl Groups. The songs have the same shadowy, echoey quality like these sugary, upbeat melodies are heard through barriers of unrelenting reverb.
It's an interesting concoction. Unlike Grouper's songs, these tracks don't touch on melancholy. The formula of light female vocals and airy, barely professional recording is also hardly original. Throughout the album, you are intoxicated but you're hardly enthralled.
